Randall & Payne Chartered Accountants, in Cheltenham, were first formed in Stroud by John Randall and George Payne in 1879. For 139 years, they’ve been providing business advice and accounting services to clients across the county.
Every 2 years the firm’s staff are involved in selecting their corporate charity and cast their vote after a series of presentations. The presentation for Scoo-B-Doo was given by 3 members of staff whose lives had been affected by premature birth and who had been supported by the neo-natal unit at Gloucester Royal.
It was here that they learnt about the charity and how it worked to raise money to pay for the equipment they needed to enable their babies to flourish and the facilities they themselves needed to support them during this worrying time. They felt inspired to raise awareness as well as the much needed funds to continue support for more families. Following their presentation the staff at Randall & Payne were motivated to do the same.
Jo Kline, events coordinator from Randall & Payne comments: “As a business in Gloucestershire for over a century we’re proud to be part of such a vibrant community. It’s a great responsibility to make a positive impact within the community and we support local people through volunteer work and charity projects. Several years ago we decided that having a corporate charity would mean we could focus our fundraising activity and help raise more than just money for local causes. Raising awareness brings with it an element of sustained support as more people in Gloucestershire recognise and support the charity.
We are looking forward to working with the small team of volunteers on the Scoo-B-Doo committee. Our past activities have included numerous events such as quiz and horse racing themed nights, as well as raffles, monthly dress down Friday’s and cake sales. Partners have been involved in individual sporting challenges such as cycle rides and golf days.
We are always thinking of new ways to raise money and awareness so watch out for these on the events page of our website www.randall-payne.co.uk.”
